Krajth'Thrazsk | |
Planetary Data
Name:
Krajth'Thrazsk
Star: Krazza
Orbital Position: Fourth of 12 planets
Planetary Classification: Twilight World, otherwise Earth
Standard (except for the ion storms)
Unusual Planetary Phenomena: Ion storms rage about this world
as commonly as thunderstorms do on other planets. These ion storms are far
deadlier than the standard thunderstorm however. Anyone standing outside has a
5% chance per minute of being hit by a bolt (double if holding or wearing
metal) which can inflict damage ranging from 2D6x10 to 8D6x10. These storms can
be found in flat landlocked regoins apprimately every 2 months. In coastal
regoins or high mountainous territories, they can come at a weekly basis. It is
believed that these storms are the cause of the extreme rarity of travel
between the five main powers of Krajth'Thrazsk.
The atmosphere is also charged with electromagnetic energy, so electrical
devices cannot function unless shielded (even during calm days).
Tech Level: Pre-Industrial (with some small pockets of
Industrial and one enclave equivalent to Mature Space Age except for the lack
of space science. Explained later)
Magic Level: None
Dominant Races: Byumstek, Korgath, Vondans
Nations
Byumste is located on
a small mountainous island just a few miles to the west of Vondalis. Byumste is
the homeland of the enigmatic Byumstek.
These creatures are sentient mineral beings with the unusual gift of natural
machineguns. The Byumstek are a monarchy
with the new Imperator selected by lethal combat between 3 heirs. Byumste laws
are passed solely by the king and enforced by a nobility system not unlike that
of ancient England.
Byumste has a population of only 750,000 Byumstek and only a handful of the
Korgath. There has been only one Vondan (a renegade) to ever peacefully enter
this land.
Byumste has a technology level comparable to ancient Rome, but with somewhat
more advanced weaponry. The Byumste still have not perfected a great pistol
type weapon (though some have some into possession of Vondan energy blasters),
but their town defenses are quite powerful. The Byumstek Defender Cannon is
capable of hurling a large polished stone at great force and velocity (range:
5,000', damage: 6D6x10)
Dialorin is the
newest power to come to Krajth'Thrazsk. Dialorin is a city state founded by
Vondan renegade Forzin Dalor in a oasis ocated within a a desert in the eastern
portion of the Gath continent, approximately half the size of Texas. Dalor
created this land to create the utopia that he always believed Vondalis should
have been. Though he did not have access to all Vondan technology, he was able
to set up an electrical system, mass transit, computer networks, and a potent
particle beam defense grid. Dialoris is a thriving city state for a land mass
as small as it is with over 1,000,000 Korgath and almost 7,000 Byumstek. Only
about 200 Vondans live there at the moment. Dalor (who was born biologically
immortal) rules the nation and is proclaimed ruler for life (NOTE: If Dalor
should ever die or be unable to lead Dialorin, then social instability would
surely result. This fact is not lost on Vondalis, which has sent three
unsuccessful assassin teams to kill Dalor). Dalor hopes to someday figure out a
safe way to travel the expanse of Krajth'Thrazsk and has begun to theorize on
the possibility of even leaving the planet and exploring the other worlds that
he had heard rumors of during his youth on Vondalis.
An interesting side note: Dialorin offers cybernetics (but rarely bionic high
powered weapons) to the Byumstek and Korgath. Despite all of the high tech
microcircuited wonders they have access to, the Byumsteks' favorite is a rather
simple removable back mounted ammo drum (5,000 round capacity) for their
mineral "bullets" with a channel that redirects the
"bullets" from their formation chambers, to the drum, and then to the
arm gun.
Gath is a large nation (about the size of the North American continent) populated by the Korgath. There are surprisingly few of them however (these canine creatures need their space). Only 50,000,000 of these warlike beings are estimated to live in Gath. The nation of Gath enjoys a technology level about equal to Earth in the mid to late 1800's, but many Korgath still sleep in caves and live a simple natural hunter's life. The average Korgath adult male has experience with ancient weapons like swords and bows as well as the rifles (range: 400', damage: 5D6, payload: 6, takes 4 APM to reload) and pistols (range: 100', damage: 2D6, payload: 4 (takes 2 APM to reload) that the Korgath military uses. Korgath society is divided into clans, with a council of leaders (one from each clan) ruling the nation as a whole. Most of Gath is located in lush forests and fertile fields, but the eastern coast is a desert wasteland (except for the oasis in which the cty state of Dialorin is located).
Vondalis is an
advanced nation, which is located within a large artifical island (actually a
crashed settlement ship). Vondalis is a large ship, but not large enough to
support a growing population, so breeding is discouraged strongly (disobeying
an order not to reproduce is punishable by death). Vondalis is the name of the
ship and the nation which resides within it. It is also the name of the
artificially intelligent supercomputer which is the supreme ruler of the
nation. Vondalis is capable of providing many luxuries for its people, who live
within the 7 mile long starship.
It is unknown from which world these settlers originated, and Vondalis does not
encourage the people to learn of their past. Indeed, Vondalis has already taken
steps such as data erasing and select executions, to make sure that the truth
will never be discovered. Exactly why the ship is so determined to keep the
alien origin of the Vondan people secret is unknown.
