All Super Heroes must have some
sort of Motivation for becoming a Hero, Whether it be the fact
that with great power comes great responsibility, or revenge, or
he is a paid Hero. This table is used to round out some Heroes
Unlimited characters, you can either roll on it or choose one.
- 01-06: Responsibility of
Power- The Character believes that with great power comes
great responsibility. He has great powers which he must
use to help mankind, not destroy it. Sometimes this
responsibility is very stressful.
- 07-13: Personal Vengeance-
Something happened in the character's past that made him
have a strong hatred towards crime. He feels that crime
must be stopped all odds. This character is constantly
fighting a personal battle, and in every criminal he sees
that criminal who wronged him. He will not hurt any
innocents, but will punish criminals with great
vengeance.
- 14-20: Thrill Seeker- This
character is a thrill seeker. An adrenaline junkie. He is
the gung-ho, guts and glory type, taking all sorts of
unnecessary risks. He loves every minute of combat. Cares
about people, but does it for the thrill.
- 21-26: Gloryhound- The
character want to be recognized and believe that being a
super hero is the best way to get attention. Only
adulation will satisfy the characters longings.
- 27-33: Guardian-There is a
place or person or group of people that this character
believes he must protect. Threats to those gain the
strongest responses in the individual.
- 34-40: Paid Job- The
character is paid by either the government, or a public
or private organization that is interested in stopping
crime or protecting it's organization. This is both good
and bad. The good, the character gets good pay. The bad,
the character must always answer to the company.
- 41-46: Adventurer- The
character seeks to capture a spirit of adventure that
humanity has lost. He will go to often foolhardy lengths
to revitalize this adventuresome spirit.
- 47-53: Example-The character
believes that he must represent a race, class or legacy
that needs greater visibility. He seeks a high profile,
but not personal notoriety.
- 54-60: Explorer- The
character devotes his life to the discovery of new ideas
and environments. Believes the theoretical is as powerful
as the practical. This often leads to trouble.
- 61-66: Idealist- The
character believes in a cause so strongly, he would die
for it. Challenges to his beliefs gain the strongest
reaction from him.
- 67-73: Investigator- The
character loves to unravel mysteries. Weather it be
crimes, science, supernatural or other fields. He gets
personal satisfaction when his work helps others.
- 74-80: Political Leader- The
hero leads a people and acts as the preserver of their
interests. Personal power is wielded for their benefit.
- 81-86: Protector- The
character lives to protect innocents from harm,
regardless of who they are. Seeing people in danger
brings out an overwhelming desire to help.
- 87-93: Repentant- The
character has committed some things he is ashamed of in
his past, and has become a hero in order to set things
straight. He is trying to redeem his past sins, and only
through good deeds the hero feels partially cleansed.
- 94-00: Vestige of Humanity:
The character is not fully human, but envies the emotions
of others. The closer the character gets to human, the
happier the character is.(Suggested for android
characters)
